Old South Branch Meeting

Sunday November 16, 2014

A magnificent reception and dinner supplied very generously by Henry and Margaret Staats in the "Great Room" of their wonderful home. The program consisted of President Schenck sharing news of the HSNY, a lecture with Powerpoint Slides: "17th Century Culture and Cuisine as seen through the Eyes of the Dutch Masters" presented by Marcia Whitney-Schenck, and a harpsichord concert given by Adam Decker on an 18th Century style instrument after demonstration of its workings. Adam is a very new member of the Old South Branch and is very proud of his Dutch heritage. All eighteen attendees had a wonderful time. This was the tenth year of Henry Staats' Presidency of the Old South Branch.

A Dutch Treat Dinner
with the Holland Society's Old South Branch

Sunday November 14, 2010

The annual Old South Branch dinner/meeting was held on November 14, 2010 at the Staats home in Dunwoody, Ga. Each member contributed to the "Dutch Treat" dinner with a pot luck item. After dinner, each member discussed his earliest ancestors in New Netherlands. The meeting was attended by members of the following families: Staats, Van Arsdale, Ouderkirk, Oosterhoudt, Banta, Ten Eyck, Chrisman, and Zeliff. In addition, President Lazier joined the group, as did the entire Maryville, Tennessee Ten Eyck family, including high schoolers Paul and Andrew, and their lovely younger sister, Julia.
