Save the date!
We will be holding our annual meeting and activities
on Feb. 4, 2012 at the Clayton Genealogy Library in
Houston, TX. So mark your calendar to attend this
exciting event. The activities for the day are scheduled
as follows:
Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012
• 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Clayton Genealogy
Library: Texas-branch meeting.
• 10:00 - 10:30: Welcome.
• 10:30 - 11:00: Member meeting.
• 11:00 - 12:30: Presentation and Lunch.
o We are working with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
on giving us a presentation about the van Otterloo
art collection (mentioned below.)
o Please let us know if you have a presentation or
talk you would like to give to the group.
• 12:30 - 1:00: Texas Klompendansers perform
traditional, Dutch folk dances.
• 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm at the Museum of Fine Arts
Houston(MFAH): Dutch and Flemish Masterworks from
the Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo Collection
o We are working with MFAH on having our group receive
a guided tour of the collection.
o There are also other interesting exhibits at MFAH
and the Houston Museum of Natural Science(HMNS).
o The HMNS is a wonderful place for children and adults
to visit. They have an amazing dinosaur exhibit, science
exhibits, educational, IMAX movies and a huge, butterfly
exhibit as some of their most popular and sure-to-please
exhibits. Please see the HMNS website for additional
information.
• 5:00 pm: Dinner - (location TBD)
• 7:30 pm: Cocktails - (location TBD)
You are encouraged to bring your family members and
prospective new members who have an interest in their
Dutch ancestry and New Netherland roots. We are currently
gathering information on hotel and travel accommodations
as well as cost and payment options. Please check
the HSNYTX website for the latest, up-to-date information.
A formal invitation that contains more details will
be sent to you as soon as possible.
