Peter G. Ten Eyck II, Board of Trustees Member
Mr. Ten Eyck is the President of Indian Ladder Farms Inc. an apple orchard, storage, cider mill and retail farm market located in the scenic Hudson Valley two miles west of Voorheesville, NY.
He is a graduate of Cornell University and lives on the farm with his wife Rose-Marie, a professor at The University of Albany. He is in business with his daughter Laura who is the 11th generation of the family in Albany. They grow and sell pears, blueberries, and raspberries as well as over 40 varieties of apples. During a visit to the farm during the fall harvest season, Holland Society National President John B. VanDerbeek IV and his wife, Diane, saw Peter busily involved in the many duties associated with the harvest and assisting his staff with managing the many visitors who had come to enjoy the U-Pick Apples. The restaurant on site was full of diners, and the line for the seasonally produced Apple Cider Donuts seemed to stretch all the way around the building. Peter explained that the historic donut machine, which never stopped during our visit, was from a World War II ship.
Besides his farming duties he is a director of the New York State Agricultural Society, member and former chairman of the Advisory Council of the New York State College of Agriculture and Life Science at Cornell. He serves as a delegate to the Council of Agricultural Organizations and member of the state's Apple Research and Development Board. Mr. Ten Eyck is also a trustee of the New York State Farm Bureau Foundation
He is past president of the New York State Horticultural Society as well as a former member of the New York State Commission on Constitutional Revision.
His past service in the field of education also includes 6 years as a trustee of the Albany Academy as well as 15 years on the Board of Education of the Voorheesville Central School District. In 2001 he was named "Trustee Emeritus" after 12 years of service as a trustee of Cornell University.
Mr. Ten Eyck is a director of KeyCorp a financial services company headquartered in Cleveland OH; and he is Trustee and Vice Chair of the Albany Institute of History and Art in Albany as well as a Trustee of the Holland Society in New York.
